The
firm was established in 1924 and has remained in Hamlet Court Road, Westcliff-on-Sea
for over seventy years, serving the needs of an extensive commercial and
residential client base. The two Mr.
Wheeldons, father and son, originally occupied a small shop unit but it quickly
became obvious that larger premises was required and they expanded into the whole
of the ground unit.

After
the Second World War, the late Mr. Norman Deacon restarted the practice as sole
practitioner, expanding the work of the firm and consequently taking over the
whole building. In 1995 the firm relocated to Admirals House due to the growing needs of their
clients in all matters commercial and residential. This move ensured that the best possible levels of service
can be offered in premises in keeping with the deeply held traditions of the
firm, by providing an efficient and suitable headquarters to incorporate the
latest information technology.

Nelson
Street is situated within the Clifftown Conservation area, adjacent to Southend
Town centre, and in fact Nelson Street was the original main shopping street in
Southend. The road is named after
Lord Nelson, following a visit he made to Southend, and the new premises were
accordingly named Admirals House.
In 1996 we merged
with Quintin Davis Associates
formerly Taylor Lloyd (founded in 1899). Both firms have since their inception
carried out property management valuations and surveys of residential and commercial properties in South East Essex. The
combination of these two firms has resulted in one of the largest collections of
survey and valuation records of properties in South East Essex.
Today we are able
to offer our clients traditional service with the benefit of modern methods and
efficiency. We treat people as individuals so that you always have the
opportunity to talk directly to the surveyor dealing with your instructions.
Wheeldon & Deacon have continued to build on its success and has amongst its
wide client base plc's, companies, investors, local authorities and private
individuals.
