Local Chartered Surveyor Simon Deacon of Wheeldon & Deacon is among the first 350 Chartered Surveyors in the Country to receive personal accreditation to undertake Homebuyer surveys.
He received his certificate at a ceremony in London on Thursday 5th October, to celebrate the launch of the Surveyors and Valuers Accreditation (SAVA) scheme.
The SAVA scheme, launched by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) is the first scheme of its kind in the country and will immediately give real benefits to consumers by setting new standards in residential surveying and providing reassurance in the professionalism of surveyors.
It also offers additional comfort to the homebuyer through the newly designed 'hidden defects insurance' element, which is now available through SAVA accredited surveyors. All those accredited have to undergo regular ongoing training to ensure standards are maintained at the highest level.
The Government has announced its commitment to reforming the home buying process with the introduction of the 'Sellers Pack', scheduled to start in 2003. The Home Condition Report will become one of the key elements of the pack. The report, which will be required before houses can be marketed, will cover all the main elements of a property. All practitioners preparing these reports in the future will have gone through an accreditation or certification process.
Simon Deacon - Principle of Wheeldon & Deacon Chartered Surveyors said 'we are delighted to be at the forefront of providing high standards set nationally and applied locally.
